SURPRISE

BIRTHDAY:

We have made it a point to make quite a big deal about birthdays down here. So with having around 4 in May, there have been lots of thoughts and ideas thrown out.

For instance, when Tina Ellertson birthday was coming up plus her twin sister’s and her beautiful 3-year-old daughter, we had lots to celebrate. With having a niece only a year younger, I have tried to get as close as I can to her daughter and gosh has that been some work. After many weeks of trying, I finally got through with the one and only kissing monster ha …

So when she asked for us to all be a part of her child’s birthday bash, it was a no brainer for us to try and help. I actually think it turned out to be one of my favorite bday parties. Not sure I could name 3 princesses before hand, now I can name 10!

SOCCER:

I think surprise is a pretty darn good adjective to portray our last two games. Whether it was us man marking two of the best forwards in the world or rebounding and sending our World Cup girls off with a 4-0 win against Atlanta, surprise can sum it up.

With that being said, I also have to state that I do not think 3-0 showed the dynamics of our game. What I mean by that is that if I had put one or two of my chances away, it would have been a completely different game. Don’t get me wrong, I give Ashlyn and that back line loads of respect and credit. They fought to keep the ball out of the net with every lunging and/or hard hit. It was just one of those days where we did not get that bounce or shoot, that inch.

Luckily for us, we get to meet them 2 more times ha. Unluckily for you, yal don’t get to see it again unless we both make it to the championship. ;/

Then with Atlanta, it seemed that we got every bounce. Well minus my goal that called back because Christie Rampone was trying to re live her glory days (jk) ha. As a whole it seemed that we came out ready to go and were ready for the challenge of Atlanta.

Now we are off to begin our two-month stunt of road games. Yep, until July 27^th we will have no home games. Some would think that that is a hindrance, however, I am telling you, getting me out of this heat is a blessing to me! I honestly do not think I am going to step outside unless we have soccer in the morning. It’s been 90 for a month already and only going to get hotter!

So, in my eyes, the fun is just about to begin. With all the girls being gone for the World Cup some new faces are going to arise in the limelight. Every team is going to find out what it really means to battle because we all know that the teams that win the most games now are the teams that are going to find themselves in the playoffs.

Yeeess siiiirrrr.

GOOD TIMES:

To continue with this “surprise” theme of this entry I’ll finish with what I think is a funny story.

About three weeks ago my “boy” came out and surprised me for a week. He decided to come out with us having a weekend off. When I found this out, I thought it would be a great idea to take him kite riding (thank you Groupon) because they say it feels like you are somewhat flying. Who would not want to do that?!?

Before I continue, I have to inform you that throughout our dating history, Sam has attempted to do some pretty sweet things……….I say attempted because usually something (bless his heart) falls through.

For example:

One time he tried to take me horse back riding and we showed up at the reservation place to find out that the horses were not available that day. After an hour drive mind you.

Or last year when he tried to take me on a carriage, which has always been on my list to do, and it turned out an ice storm. I was honestly worried for our driver and the horse’s life. We were both so cold and numb that it was a pretty miserable experience even though it was a great idea.

With that being said, usually when I plan stuff I have had the luck of things going smoothly………..until this darn kite riding.

Too make a long story short. I hyped up the kite-boarding saying he would be able to feel like he was flying only to drive 30 minutes north to never experience it. It was an absolute crapshoot. We could not get a hold of the guy that was suppose to teach us, did not have an address to where we were suppose to go, and got met by one of the nastiest storms since we have been here.

Pretty much saying I just showed up to the horse park without any horses ha. He was a great sport and we still enjoyed it.

Just now I have two kite-riding passes that weren’t cheap, any takers?!?
